LA1: CARRY OUT A PRE-PRODUCTION (PROPOSAL)

PROPOSAL:

My short film idea is to create a thriller-type, zero dialogue movie about a teenager who sells his soul to become famous after he researched about it online after seeing that his peers were doing it for other things and he wanted to give it a try to see of its actually works however, when it actually works it is never what he imagined and it gets too much for him to handle. He starts to wish for his old life back however, what he has done is irreversible and has to live with it forever.

As my movie is a zero dialogue movie, there will be no script other than sounds here and then however, the most captivating one sentence way yo describe my film would be that the boy in the film does a ritual in his bedroom then after that what he wishes for becomes true. He shortly learns to be careful what you wish for.

In my 3-act structure for 'the setup' i am going to have him seeing his peers selling their souls for things they desire, this will be where he find the idea to try it out from, then we move onto him actually performing the ritual alone in his bedroom. For 'the conflict' This will be where he starts to realise that it is not fully what he anticipated and that he has started to make the wrong decision as he didn't realise how dramatically it would influence his life. For 'the resolution' I have decided to make my film a cliffhanger so the audience never actually find out if he managed to get his old life back or not, leaving them filled with questions.

The relevant characters in my film is going to be myself & my friends in only one or two scenes, it will mainly be me in the film as I think it fits with the narcissistic reason he sold his soul for fame in the first instance. These two things will go hand in hand with each other making the short movie have a more detailed background.

The boy in question has seen all of his peers in college and around his non-educational social life doing this new trend which is selling their soul for things they desire, his friends have sold their souls for materialistic things such as new phones, cars & designer clothes however, he wants to one up his friends and he believes those things come naturally with fame. He decides to do his research on it without considering the consequences of his actions, he carries out the ritual and sells his soul to be famous, nothing changes that night. Until he wakes up in the morning thinking that nothing changed for him however, when he goes shopping there is multiple people asking for autographs and pictures with him, this multiplies more and more each day that passes, now he cannot go anywhere without being recognised. He shortly decides after this its too much and wants his old life back little does he know what he has done is irreversible at all costs.

My target audience is 15-20 year old as i believe this film would be much more suited to them. My unique selling point is the fact i believe there is nothing else out there like this project which shows something new that people will be drawn to.
