LA1 : USE RESEARCH METHODS TO GATHER MATERIALS : STORYBOARDS
STORYBOARDS:
Storyboards are a key important piece of information of the pre-production process of a project such as a film. As it clearly states and conveys how the story will flow, as you can see how all of your shots work together as one and make sure they look like they make sense. It also brings out any flaws you may miss if you skip this process ultimately costing you time and money.
There are multiple styles of storyboarding however simple sketching is probably the most common and easiest way that is used in the industry as it is cost efficient and simple to do, again saving time and money to spend on the actual project. Depending on the time frame of the production you can conjure how much detail is needed in the storyboard to get the point across. Simple sketched storyboards are usually good enough however, more complex storyboards are better if you want to leave the people you are presenting to with a better understanding of your story, goals and aspirations
Some common shots used for storyboards are shots such as:
- Close Up Shots
- Extreme Long Shot
- Long Shot
- Medium Shot
- Extreme Close Up
- Zoom Out
- Over The Shoulder Shot
- High Angle
- Low Angle
Different perspective shots are beneficial for a project like this as it gives who you are presenting to a better idea of things such as distances, heights, scenes and many other things. The more people can see from your storyboard the more memorable it will be to them and they will want to see it come to life.
